Kitchen Supervisor at The Parade Cinema Marlborough
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Kitchen Supervisor to join our dynamic growing team at our amazing independent Parade Cinema in Marlborough, where you can be part of a team who are all about providing the best customer experience around - Film - Friends - Food.
Opened in 2021, the Parade Cinema screens the latest blockbusters as well as a diverse mix of films from around the world. We live stream events, theatre, opera, ballet and concerts. We host the Marlborough Parade Family Festival and provide a premier event location in Marlborough for parties, family and business events. And we offer great food - all prepared inhouse, as well as sell a wide range of drinks and snacks to make an all round great customer experience. We've even been reviewed on an American film based YouTube channel - and so our reach and reputation goes far beyond just Marlborough!
What your role will involve:
The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring smooth workflow, and maintaining high food quality standards. Your primary goal will be to lead and motivate a team of staff to deliver exceptional culinary experiences for our customers.
Role Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Lead, train, and supervise staff in kitchen practices to ensure high quality food and efficient and cohesive teamwork.
- Workflow Management: Coordinate and organise kitchen activities, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and food presentation, to ensure timely and efficient service.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all food products meet high quality, presentation and taste standards through regular inspections, adherence to recipes, and proper portion control.
- Menu Development: Collaborate with the management team to create and update menus, considering seasonal ingredients, customer preferences, and cost-effectiveness.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, complete order forms (taking stock levels into consideration), and maintain proper stock rotation to minimise waste and ensure availability of ingredients and kitchen equipment.
- Food Safety and Hygiene: Uphold strict health and safety standards in Catering and Hospitality, by enforcing proper food handling, storage, and staff and food hygiene to comply with regulations and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. Ensuring Allergen information remains up to date and available to all staff and customers; providing advice and guidance to staff and customers as required.
- Staff Training: Conduct regular kitchen meetings (and where necessary training sessions) to enhance the skills and knowledge of kitchen staff. Develop team members in key aspects of kitchen leadership – eg, stock control, recipe management, baking, preparation techniques, ordering, etc. to broaden expertise across the team and minimise single person reliance.
- Cost Control: Assist in controlling costs by monitoring food, minimising waste, and implementing strategies to improve efficiency without compromising quality.
- Problem Solving: Address any kitchen-related issues or conflicts promptly and effectively, finding practical solutions to ensure smooth operations. Where necessary, escalate this to the management team.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as front-of-house staff and management, to ensure seamless coordination and exceptional customer service.
- Documentation: Ensure full, relevant and up to date kitchen documentation is maintained, readily available and shared with staff frequently. Document must include but is not limited to: Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP); Recipes; Menu details and imagery; Allergens; Stock, waste and ordering traceability; Staff training records.
- To be an active member of the Cinema supervisory team with a full understanding of and experience in the front of house operations and taking on cinema opening up duties when scheduled.
Person Specification:- Culinary Skills: Strong culinary knowledge and skills, with expertise in various cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
- Leadership Abilities: Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
- Organisation and Time Management: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to maintain food quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, management, and other team members.
- Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills, able to engage and communicate with customers throughout their food experience journey
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to handle unexpected situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge of Safety and Food Hygiene Standards: Thorough understanding of food safety, food hygiene, and proper handling of kitchen equipment. Requires a minimum of a Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering to develop to Level 3.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the business.
- Creative: Being collaborative with the management team in exploring new opportunities and open to new ideas. Being prepared and able to adjust and flex menu/dishes based on customer feedback/sales figures.
Hours of Work & Rate of Pay
The Kitchen Supervisor role is a full time role (c.35-40hrs/week), working flexibly across all 7 days a week including weekends. Pay rate is £13 per hour.
