In collaboration with Marlborough Festival, we are incredibly excited to be welcoming John Kennedy here at The Parade Cinema on the 16th October for an interview and Q&A about his recent autobiography, Just For One Hour: Moments I Pinched Myself in the Music Industry. The interview with John Kennedy will start at 5:15pm, followed by a Q&A session. We will then host a book signing in our foyer. We hope to see you there! Each ticket includes a charitable donation to Marlborough Festival. John Kennedy is a music industry lawyer with a guiding hand in some of the pop and rock industry’s biggest projects, events, and disputes of the last forty years. When Bob Geldof burst through his office door asking ‘just for one hour’ of his time, Kennedy had no idea this would lead to a forty year professional relationship with the Irish musician & activist, and a decades long commitment to the Band Aid Charitable Trust. Alongside his work with Geldof and Band Aid, Kennedy set up a successful music business legal practice representing many of the top artists, songwriters, and independent labels of his time. During his long and varied career, Kennedy has worked with the likes of Elton John, Sinéad O’Connor, Mike Joyce (formerly of The Smiths), Richard Ashcroft, the Stone Roses, the list goes on. He went on to become chairman and CEO of Universal Music UK and in 1994 was awarded an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II for his work as a trustee of the Band Aid Trust and Live Aid.  Of Kennedy, Bob Geldof writes:“He is a lovely man, he is my great friend whom I depend upon and lean on almost unconsciously but never without relief and gratitude and if I ever listen to anyone’s advice - it’s his. Poor bugger. Such is his burden and my complete confidence in his knowledge, sagacity and wisdom and I mean it quite literally when I tell you that none of us, and definitely not myself, could have even begun Live Aid and Live 8 or any of everything we’ve done without this man. Nothing. None of it. It would all have been a disaster. I and we all owe him.  He walks bent forward into the headwinds of his life, determined, aggressive, blunt, peremptory, funny but … the kindest of men, the most empathetic of souls, one of the loveliest of people.
