The Parade Cinema has disabled access throughout the entire ground floor, accessible facilities and a dedicated wheelchair bay in Row A of the auditorium; there is capacity to remove seats for more bays in Row A if required. As we have limited downstairs seating, our courtyard is fully covered with a tent from March until December, which also provides more seating options for those with accessibility needs.
The typical
cinema environment can be stressful for guests with autism, ADHD, sensory
difficulties or learning impairments who may be neurodiverse. We are delighted
to host special ‘relaxed and neurodiverse friendly’ screenings at The Parade
Cinema.
These screenings generally take place in the morning when the venue is quieter and a number of adaptations will be in place to ensure they are as accessible as possible to those within the neurodivergent communities and their families, friends and carers.
At our sensory friendly screenings:
• the lights will be left on low throughout the film
• the film will be played with a reduced volume
• we will remove the advertisements and trailers before the film
• you are free to move around, make noise and sit where you like
• we will open the cinema doors as early as we can so that guests have time to get used to the surroundings
• we serve drinks and snacks in paper or plastic containers
• you are welcome to take a break and leave and re-enter the screen whenever you need to
How to find neurodiverse friendly screenings
To find out about neurodiverse friendly screenings simply select the 'Relaxed and Neurodiverse Friendly' filter when looking for films and showtimes at The Parade Cinema; this can be found on our home page, just beneath 'Film Times'.
If no performances are displayed, there may not be any neurodiverse friendly screenings programmed at that time. If that's the case, please contact our team at hello@theparadecinema.com who will be able to help you further. Or speak to one of the team at the cinema.
